New River Store Manager: Kristin Kettenhofen
Meet Kristin Kettenhofen,
River Store’s New Manager!
Kristin has worked at the River Store for the past 4 years, if you haven’t had a chance to meet her in person here is a quick meet & greet…
How long has Kristin been kayaking? She is going on her 4th season working at the River Store, which is exactly the same amount of time she has been into kayaking, coincidence? She started in a Axiom 8.0 and Diesel 60, and is looking forward to another season where she can test out the Small Burn, & 9R.
Favorite Piece of Gear: While she is building up her kit o’ gear, her favorite, would be her Astral shoes!
She’s a Local! Graduating from El Dorado High School up in Placerville, CA, Go Cougars! With a quick break up north she is now back in school at Sierra College in Rocklin!
She’s a Star! After graduating she was offered a starting Goalkeeper position on the Women’s Soccer team for a small community college up in Humboldt called College of the Redwoods. Where she played a season of soccer and completed two semesters. Kristin started playing soccer as a sophomore year in highschool, so its going on 6ish years as a goalkeeper. Recently Kristin made the hard decision to “retire” from collegiate soccer, but is hoping to get into some adult leagues.
Goals
… besides soccer…
To traveling more! Kristin gives a big yes to the Road Trip since she is looking to check out more of california and the west cost paddling or just for the adventure.
Recently she has declared Kinesiology Major, if you’re not familiar with kinesiology it is the study of human movement. Looking to the future she is interested in being a certified athletic trainer where she might work for a college or professional sports team (preferably soccer teams) Who knows, maybe there will be an opportunity to work with kayakers too!
Some Other Fun Facts:
If you think Kristin looks familiar… you may have met her older sister, Kelsey, works over at Marshall Gold Discovery Park, where you may have seen her at the kiosk at North Beach!
Hounds love her too! Queensland Heeler named Emmitt and a Lab/Boxer mix named Jayda both sit at home while we borrow her for the day.
Favorite Place: The beach. That was one of the best parts about living up in Humboldt, the beach was 20 minutes from my school!
Kristin in Bad Ass!: Prior to playing soccer I played on my high school’s tackle football team, yes with the boys!
We welcome her again into the River Store family, and are glad she has stuck around yet another season. With any luck you will see her out on the water!
