ABOUT

WRSI  Mission – To improve recreation safety and save lives by disseminating knowledge and improving equipment.

At WRSI they keep this basic goal in mind in everything they do. They strive to create the best products possible and put them in the hands of as many people as possible. They will never rest in this goal. They want everyone out there to feel good about the gear they are depending on to get them through. And they want to hear from you and hope we can help you enjoy more time doing what you love.

The history of this project, and hence, a safer helmet for non-motorized water sports, especially the extreme sport of whitewater kayaking/rafting, can be credited to the “living spirit” of one person, Lucas Brandon Turner. Upon his fatal accident on a very dangerous river in Idaho, his surviving family sought some solace in seeking the reason for his “needless death,” and committed themselves to implement a solution to that problem.  Ever more, they believed, it would give not just whitewater boaters, but worldwide communities of non-motorized water sports participants, a better chance to provide their own conscious assistance in their unfortunate participation in an accident in a water recreation environment.

To this end, the Whitewater Research & Safety Institute (WRSI) was created and began the development, manufacture, and distribution of a safer water sports helmet. Under the direct auspices of Dr. Andrew H. Conn, the Mechanical Design Engineering Department at Johns Hopkins University, the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, and the Inventors, Mr. Chang Lee and Mr. Michael Cordeiro, the WhiteWater Head Impact Protection Project (WHIPP) resulted in a prototype that has produced the 2006 WRSI water sports helmet, that we believe to be the “safest whitewater helmet in the world.”

This helmet project has precipitated a “price point” helmet that has enabled mass production, hence making the WRSI helmets easily available by UPS World Trade Delivery in the world’s current “value driven” economy

Moment

The Moment is the first all-out fullface creeking helmet from WRSI.

The helmet features the construction which we all love from the Current with a permanent, very rigid facebar that will keep your smile looking good.

CURRENT PRO HELMET

The Current Pro is based of the top selling current. We have added a visor

and removable ear protection. The Current Pro also works with the detachable Pinch face protection for those stout lines. (Sold Separately)

Attachable Pinch Face Guard:

The Face Protection System “The Pinch” has now arrived! With the Pinch Facemask you simply “pinch” the back in and it snaps right in to all “medium/large” WRSI helmets. WRSI has also developed a face protection system for the “small/medium” helmets that will be available at some future time.

Trident Helmet

The Trident takes the Impact Absorption and Retention Systems that everyone loves from the Current and adds a lightweight, stylish Carbon Fiber Shell Construction. The Trident has a slightly longer brim and refined shape from the Current.

Current Water Helmet

The original WRSI helmet which set a new standard for what a whitewater helmet should be. This is one of the best-selling whitewater helmets of all time.

A 3-Layer Impact Absorption System absorbs very large impacts.
An Interconnect Retention System keeps the helmet from moving around in the hydraulic forces of the river.  Once Again:
